The Kauai Lions Club is collecting new slippers for children ages birth to 18 years old all this month to mark National Foster Care Month.
The goal is to collect 4,000 pairs of slippers.
The club reports that “there are many children who live in foster homes or shelters without the basic necessities.
“While living in transition, we want to help make sure they have the basic footwear they need,” said a press release.
The club is accepting donations of money or new slippers, which will be distributed to Hui Ho‘omalu, Hale Opio, YWCA women’s shelter and the Kauai Economic Opportunity shelter.
