Crime is a growing problem
I am writing in response to Chief Perry’s letter. I humbly ask the chief to share with the public a reference which explains how the crime-reporting metrics are collected.
The crime report we should all be interested in is how many times the police are called and there is “nothing to report” or no arrest can be made.
It was one to thing to make such a claim but to not back the claim of a crime reduction without some kind of transparent reference is unfair.
Lastly, to disclose that firearms purchases are up based on “personal choice” with again providing no evidence as to how that position is derived is reckless.
The local communities are afraid. Drug dealers roam and do business in open daylight. Police response times are so long crime is not prevented but reacted too.
I believe the general public wants to do all they can to help. Pretending that nothing is going on beneath our noses is not a good start, just my opinion.
