KALAHEO — Skylyn Fagarang, Zylah Blackstad, Cairee Quinones, and Cece Baliaris each scored four points to lead the Ao‘uka Rebels to a 22-12 win over the Westside B girls Thursday night during the Extreme Termite basketball games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Jsha Kawamura, Lilly Kaohulauli‘i, and Xyrah Kua answered for the Westside B with four points apiece.
During the second match of the night, the Kauai Lynx came back from a 6-2 deficit following three quarters of play and exploded for a 12-3 run in the final period to claim a 14-9 win over the Westside A girls.
Tavina Harris of the Westside team topped all scorers with seven of the team’s nine points, including the sole scores in the third and fourth periods.
The Lynx saw balanced scoring with Katelyn Colipano and Jazlyn Phillips each leading the way on four points.
Bryan Brown and Bryden Kawakami shared high-point honors at six each as the Lihue Lakers came up short, 30-22, at the hands of the TL Warriors-Blue in the nightcap.
“We couldn’t take care of the ball in the second half,” said Lakers coach Lenny Rapozo. “We seem to do that a lot. We just can’t let the game get ahead of us. I told my guys not to take it that hard. We’ll face them again in the summer league.”
Hunter Corpuz and John Vincent-Sibuma led the Warriors-Blue victory with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Extreme Termite basketball league enters its final week with three games on tap Monday starting at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
