Vernon Tasaka
Vernon “Sonny” Tasaka of Wailua passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on March 27, at the age of 88. He was the owner of David’s Body & Fender Shop on Kapaia.
He was born in Hanalei on Oct. 29, 1928.
He was preceded in death by wife Florence Tasaka and parents Kenichi and Asayo Tasaka.
He is survived by daughters Sheri Baker of California, Nina Tasaka of Wailua, Donna Tasaka (Wayne) Moore of South Carolina, hanai daughter Shawna Okami-Rose Hill of Nevada, grandchildren Karlina Tasaka of Wailua, Das Baker of California, Wayne Moore Jr., Kaitlyn Moore and Kyle Moore of South Carolina, great-grandchildren Kaylin Espada-Tasaka, Kaleomana Tasaka, Roselynn Rapozo, Christopher Rapozo and Micah Rapozo, all of Wailua, and Brooke Moore and Graysin Moore of South Carolina.
He is also survived by sisters Shinae Tasaka of Hanalei and Winona Yoshida of Oahu, brother Clyde Tasaka of Wailua and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 12 at the Lydgate Park main pavilion. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to noon, with the service to follow.
The family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted. Lei are welcome.

Jason Delos Reyes
Jason Delos Reyes of Hanamaulu passed away at Straub Clinic and Hospital on April 21, at the age of 56. He was born on Feb. 27, 1961, in Lihue. He worked as a guest relations specialist with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.
He was preceded in death by daughter Jasey Delos Reyes, parents Felipe and Abelina Delos Reyes, sister Priscilla Gummerus and nephew John Phillip Gummerus.
He is survived by son Jonas Delos Reyes, daughter Chaya Delos Reyes, brothers Philip (Sharlyn), Kenneth, Robert (Jan), Roland and Samuel, sisters Kathleen Delos Reyes and Janice (Raynard) Ellis, and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 12 at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue, with viewing from 8 a.m. and services celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Cecelia Pualilialanaikawai Aki
Cecelia Pualilialanaikawai Aki of Hanapepe passed away on April 26, peacefully at home at the age of 68. Born on March 20, 1949, she was a retired laborer with Fletcher Pacific.
She was preceded in death by parents Cecelia Lehua Kaukani Aki and Albert Herman Aki Sr., brothers Marshall John Kilohana Aki and Albert Herman Kaleohano Aki Jr., and grandson Kainalu K. Napohaku.
She is survived by her companion Christopher E. Kali of Hanapepe, daughters Cecelia (Sheldon) Hoffman of Kalaheo, Anela (Christian) Ogawa of Lihue and Girley (Troy Yamamoto) Napohaku of Hanapepe, and her one and only son Noah Napohaku of Hanapepe, 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother George (Lauretta) Kaukani of Oahu, sister Sally Aki of Arizona, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, at the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congressional Church.
The family suggests casual attire.

Bernard Oliwa Kanahele Sr.
Bernard Oliwa Kanahele Sr., born on June 16, 1964 on the island on Niihau, passed away on May 3, at the age of 52.
He was preceded in death by Oihana Leimana Kanahele and Evaline Kanahele.
He is survived by wife Diane H. Kanahele of Kekaha, sons Bernard Oliwa Kanahele Jr. of Kekaha, Darion Kaleiho‘omaikai Pheiffer, Allan Kaleionalani (Nawai) Kahale and Dana Drew Kalanianehiilani Pheiffer, daughters Tracyann H.K. (Hopate) Vakameilau of Kekaha, Chassidyann K. Kanahele of Kekaha, Katelynn K. Kanahele of Kekaha, Kaleilehua Atay and Kelly Waialohakahokuloa, brothers Kalei (Kuuipo) Kanahele of Hanapepe, Pomaikai (Kapua) Kanahele of Ka‘awanui and Keli‘i (Allison) Kanahele, and sisters Tuti Kanahele, Doreen (Lauae Kanahele) Naleieha Kanahele and Pu‘uwai Kanahele.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai. Services will follow. Burial will take place at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.

Rebecca Mahealani Galbriath
Rebecca Mahealani Galbraith of Lawai passed away at the age of 83 on April 27, at her residence. She was born on Feb. 15, 1934 in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by husband Laverne Roy Galbraith, father Joseph G. Perreira Jr., mother Marry Ellen Rowe Perreira, brother Harold J. Perreira, and sister Joeldene Amorin.
She is survived by sons Charles (Chae) Bone of Pensacola, Florida, Robert (Donna) Bone of Archdale, North Carolina and Michael (Angie) Bone of Lexington, North Carolina, daughters Bianca Bone of Lexington, North Carolina, Leigh Ann (Ricky) Curry of Lexington, North Carolina, and Teresa (Kyle) Morrison of Lawai, numerous grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother Joseph Pepe (Sally) Perreira of Fullerton, California, and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on May 11, at The Church at Koloa at 3269 Poipu Rd. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with services following at 10:30 a.m.

Carol Matsuyo Chiba passed away at the age of 86 on April 28, at Garden Isle Health Care. Born on Nov. 19, 1930, she was a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service.
She was preceded in death by parents Kabuki and Katsumi Hashimoto, and siblings Kimiko Hashimoto, James Hashimoto, Jerry Hashimoto, Ruth Cofer, Yatsuki Hashimoto, Harry Hashimoto, Hisayo Hashimoto and George Hashimoto.
She is survived by husband Ichiro Chiba, sons Melvin (Sharon) Chiba of Lihue, Wesley Chiba of Lihue, Nelson Chiba of Lihue and Derrick Chiba of Wailua, daughter Susan (Charles) Brooks of Kalaheo, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers Sumimitsu Wilson Hashimoto of California and Sueto Stan (Lynn) Hashimoto of California, and sister Tatsue Karen (John) Ibara of California.
A celebration of life will be held at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel in Lawai on Thursday, May 11, with visitation at 3 p.m. and memorial services beginning at 5 p.m.

Ashlet Sarah Marie Girald of Kapaa passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on May 1 at the age of 62. She was born in Koloa on Sept. 11, 1954, and was vice president of Kauai Freight Services Inc.
She was preceded in death by brother Rocky Lacro, in-laws Manuel and Constance Girald, sister-in-law Geraldine Girald and father Samuel Apao.
She is survived by husband Stephen Girald Sr., son Stephen (Terry) Girald Jr., daughter Debbie Girald, grandchildren Samantha Girald, Naiya Girald and Uraiya Girald, brother-in-law Robert (Gloria) Girald, nieces Crissy, Kira and Casey, nephews Robert II and Michael, mother Rose Marie Lacro, sisters Donna, Nan, Corvette, Marion and Richlette, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 3 at Kilohana Plantation in Puhi, with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow.

Stephen Lance Goode
Stephen Lance Goode of Anahola passed away peacefully on May 1 at the age of 55. He was born in San Francisco on June 19, 1961, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a longtime employee of SynCADD Systems.
He was preceded in death by sister Valerie Rose Goode, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by wife Margaret McMurray Goode, sons Max and J.B. Goode, parents Kenneth and Loretta Largusa Goode, brothers Peter (Pam) Goode of Manteca, California and Russell Goode of Steilacoom, Washington, nephews Evan, Jacob and Daniel, nieces Courtney, Kristeen and Katherine, and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Luana Ruggiero
Luana Ruggiero of Lihue, formerly of Kalaheo, passed away peacefully on April 30, at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at the age of 70.
She was born on April 18, 1947 in the Bronx, New York City.
She was preceded in death by parents Nunzio and Vera Ruggiero, sister Diane and brother Neil.
She is survived by many friends on Kauai as well as in New York.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Kalaheo Missionary Church.
