Kauai High School’s boys golf team finished eighth on the team leaderboard in the final day of the David S. Ishii Foundation Golf Championship on Friday.
The Red Raiders team was eighth out of 10 with a total score of 695 (355-340) at the Royal Course at Ka’anapali Resort on Maui. Iolani was first with a score of 594 (294-300).
Punahou and Moanalua tied for second. Punahou scored 603 (301-302), and Moanalua scored 603 (307-296).
Deven Kimoto was Kauai’s best boys golfer with a two-day total of 166 (85-81). Christian Ganir scored 174 (88-86). A.J. Apalla scored 178 (91-87). Kanoa Nii scored 181 (95-86) and Kamden Nii scored 187 (91-96).
Island School’s Reece Valencia scored a 169 (85-84). Kapaa’s Kekoa Eisenhour scored 191 (93-98), and Waimea’s Nick Esposo scored 194 (91-103).
Moanalua’s Jun Ho Won placed first on the boys individual leaderboard with a score of 134 (67-67).
In the girls tournament, which ended earlier this week, Kauai High’s girls team placed 10th with a total score of 568 (280-288).
Punahou was first with 479 (242-237). Iolani was second with 480 (232-248) and Kalani was third with 487 (249-238).
Dillyn Sakai was the Red Raiders’ top girl with a score of 175 (86-89). Taryn Taguma scored a 191 (94-97). Kiri Oshiro scored 202 (99-103). Tyra Oshiro was disqualified after scoring 100 in the first day and didn’t compete in the second day.
Kapaa’s Sam Coloma scored 208 (103-105). Island School’s Salisa Pegeder scored a 212 (98-114).
Punahou’s Claire Choi was the top girls golfer after winning a sudden-death playoff hole over Maui’s Thereese Guzman.
