LIHUE — Vigil Alkana loves books.
“I play music, so I’m looking for good books on music,” Alkana said. “I used to be a cinematographer. So naturally, I look at those books. I just love books — any kind of books.”
Alkana was a volunteer with the Friends of the Lihue Public Library setting up books for the used book sale which opens Thursday and continues through Saturday.
Sale hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Of course, shoppers on Saturday can expect some fabulous bargains,” said Carolyn Larsen, the Lihue Public Library manager. “We don’t want to have to pack up books.”
Larsen said this sale has a lot of Japanese language material, DVDs, CDs and non-fiction books of any type.
The used book sale kicks off National Library week with the proceeds from the fundraising event supporting the programs and services provided by the Lihue Public Library.
