Wayne Masamitsu Amii
Wayne Masamitsu Amii passed away at the age of 69 on March 31, 2017, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on July 25, 1947, in Honolulu, he retired as a lead customer service representative with Avis/Budget Rental Car.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elaine Morishige; step-father, Walter Morishige; and father, Alfred Amii.
Wayne is survived by his daughters, Rachelle Benevides of the Big Island, Cheryl (Keone) Garma of Lihue, and Brittan (Soheyl) Amii of San Diego; hanai son, Cory Kaneshiro of Huntington Beach, California; grandchildren: Raquela Benevides, Rikki Benevides, Devin Gouveia of the Big Island, Krystian Garma, Caylee Garma of Lihue, Arlen Hatamitajik, and Mika Hatamitajik of San Diego; great-grandchildren: Kiara Martin, and Blaze Bento of the Big Island; brother, Albert (Alice) Amii of Honolulu; sisters, Eunice (Willy) Ugale of Mililani, O’ahu and Myra Uyehara of Maui; along with numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with services to begin at 11 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested.

Engracia ‘Conching’ Aguzar Baris
Engracia Aguzar Baris, 97 of Hanamaulu, Kauai passed away on her birthday, April 16, 2017, at Garden Isle Healthcare. She was born on April 16, 1920, in Guimba, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. She was a homemaker and talented business woman while busy raising her family in the Philippines. Immigrated to Kauai in 1975, was employed and retired from Lihue Sugar Plantation Co.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonifacio Agor Baris; Parents Eligio and Luisa Aguzar; brothers Moises and Wen Ceslao “Stanley” Aguzar; Sister Ildefonsa de Guzman and grandson Peter Gano and sons-in-law David Bali, Bernardo Gano, Romulo Duran and Florendo Ancheta.
She is survived by her children, Natividad Bali, Veronica Gano, Corazon Duran, Fel “Boy” (Belma) Baris, Thelma (Pacifico) Ruiz, Adora Ancheta, Alicia (Romeo Mercado) Paleracio, Nonito Baris, Benny (Josephine) Baris, Artemio (Rocelyn) Baris and Jay Baris, adopted son, 25 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, cousin Tecla Ganio, numerous nephews and nieces.
Wake service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary from 6 to 9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, May 6, 2017, visitation from 8 to 9 a.m. and mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Kauai Memorial Garden. Family requests that flowers be omitted.
