LIHUE — Tuesday was a bad day for Bernadette D’Amore of Kapaa to be stuck in traffic.
“My ride came late,” D’Amore said. “And when it was time I needed to be at Hawaii Gas, I was stuck in traffic at the Coco Palms Resort.”
D’Amore was the grand prize recipient from the Contractors Association of Kauai 25th home show which wrapped up recently at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. Major prizes were distributed on Tuesday at Hawaii Gas.
D’Amore received an International travel voucher valued at up to $3,000 from Cheryl Michioka of Mokihana Travel, and Lawton Sugihara, chair of the 2017 CAK home show.
“I have never in my life won anything,” said Wes Kaui who was presented the gas range contributed by Hawaii Gas.
Sarah Kaneko had a big smile on her face as she accepted the Stihl pole pruner presented by Damien Omakanim of Service Rentals & Supplies, one of the two original vendors at the home show’s 25-year run.
Other show winners included Gabe Mevey earning a $150 gift card from Pacific Mirror and Glass.
Tammy Schoniwitz of Lihue, Ruth Lewis of Kalaheo and Rose Cashin of Waimea were recipients of Currios, courtesy of Ace Hardware/HouseMart which featured their line of casual outdoor furniture at the home show.
“I never win anything,” D’Amore said. “Donna Shulze (for whom I used to dog sit Iniki) is going to be tickled.”
