POIPU — “We’re more than a box of cookies,” said Yayoi Ishikawa of the Kauai Kookie Kompany, at the Wedding Expo held at the newly-opened Old Koloa Landing convention center.
“People didn’t realize we make party favors, gift packs, and other items for weddings,” said Ann Hashisaka of Kauai Kookie.
Enoch A‘ana, coordinator for the first Wedding Expo, said more than 30 vendors displayed their capabilities at handling weddings.
“I didn’t realize these vendors are all from Kauai,” said Melissia Sugai of the county’s Office of Economic Development and Business who was helping one of her daughters plan for a wedding. “To have everything in one place helps a lot in getting things done.”
The event was also the first major production to use the convention center at the Koloa Landing Resort.
