Alice Parker (and Mango) got up early Sunday to drive to the Waimea Shingon Mission rummage sale.
She was not alone, as Susan Sasaki and Daryl Lura of El Cerrito, Calif., were here to bicycle up Kokee (Susan does it in three hours), and interrupted their mission to pick up goodies with Ray and Diane Nitta and Linda Oshiro (these are the taiko people).
Alice said she went looking for a metal teapot and found it, and Madie Jimenez (she was stuck at the Prince Kuhio craft fair at the Grand Hyatt Kauai) missed out on some vintage obi. But Madie is getting excited because she and Karin Panui will be doing the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival on the Big Island right after the Garden Fair on April 8.
This weekend is the big Relay for Life garage sale at the Lawai Cannery (go early for best parking) on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., where all the vendors are Relay for Life teams. And, of course, Patty Ragasa Ornellas will have to be there since she’s been coordinating the efforts.
And don’t forget the Animal Memorial Service with the Rev. Tomo Hojo, the Rev. Noriaki Fujimori and the Rev. Kohtoku Hirao, Saturday from 6 p.m. at the Russian Fort.
