Chef Rafael Camarillo was a happy camper because he said he’s back working with Ike Cockett (just like the ol’ days) at the Koloa Landing. Congratulations to Ike, Chef Raf, Bill Child, and all those Koloa Landing people on the blessing of the project Phase III (the restaurant is open, now and Chef Raf is busy!).
Ike said Sam Choy (was he part of the Safeway television filming, too?) was here last week doing tweaking on the menu and getting Chef Raf up to speed on lunch and dinner service (breakfast service starts next week?). Pomai Cano was able to get a break from training the latest group of associates…Kauilani Kahelekai calls them ‘ohana, and what a pleasure to see the Konohiki smiling and enjoying the nice Poipu morning.
Go check out the Prince Kuhio luau this Saturday for more of the Koloa Landing magic. The event benefits the Kawaikini New Century Public Charter School.
And speaking of education, Jeanie Odo is finalizing the STEPS (it stands for Sequential Training for Education in Public Schools) that is coming up April 8 at the Kukui Grove Center from 9:30 a.m. Jeanie said she’s been doing it for 15 years (Mary Lu Kelley said she had to take the scenic route to the meeting because of the traffic).
OK, go visit Warren Perry and Peter Kea to pay respects to Prince Jonah Kuhio … it’s a long weekend — stay safe!
