Chong Sook Han
Chong Sook Han of Rice Street in Lihue, Kauai, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at the age of 82. She moved to Hawaii almost 50 years ago after leaving Seoul, Korea with her young daughter. During her life, she was a strong, smart, beautiful, and independent woman whose spark was contagious.
Within the past ten years, Chong moved to Arizona to be closer to her family. She enjoyed tending to her garden of roses. She had a love of shopping and was always elegant. She also grew close with and loved the family dog Tipsy. She was a very generous woman who always thought of others. She would often visit neighbors bearing gifts such as pies and other treats.
She is survived by her daughter, Ji, her grandchildren Kristy, and Alyssa, and her great granddaughter, Brynn Elora.
The family held a private celebration of life in Arizona.

Lucena Rosqueta Nacnac
Lucena Rosqueta Nacnac of Ele’ele, Hawai’i passed away on March 9, 2017, at Kaua’i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waimea, Kaua’i at the age of 71. Born on Sept. 26, 1945, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines, she was a retired housekeeper.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugenio Nacnac Sr.; parents, Pascual Rosqueta and Leonila Nacnac Rosqueta; and brothers, Arturo Rosqueta Sr. and Generosa Rosqueta.
Lucena is survived by her sons, Alejo Nacnac of Ele’ele, Kaua’i, Eugenio (Cheris) Nacnac Jr. of Lihue, Kaua’i, and Edwin (Melinda) Nacnac of Honolulu, O’ahu; three grandchildren, Mason Nacnac, Ryan Nacnac and Alyssa Nacnac; sister, Edna R. Soliven of the Philippines; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Hanapepe Church of Nazarene. Visitation will be from 8 to 9 a.m. with services beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be followed at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Florence Arruda Carvalho
Florence Arruda Carvalho, formerly of Kealia, passed away on Feb. 23, 2017, at Maryville Hospital in Beaverton, OR, at the age of 89. She was born on Sept. 5, 1927, in Kealia, Kaua’i.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ernest Souza Carvalho; son, Clifford G. Carvalho; parents Manuel Sr. and Mary Rente Arruda; brothers Manuel Jr., Antone, Joseph, John, and Henry; sisters Mary (Joseph) Rapozo, Jennie (Jackie) Rapozo, Helen (Alfonso) Fial, Lydia (Jimmy) Rodrigues, and Bernice (Eddie) Braun.
She is survived by daughter, Charlene (Carmen) Failla of Beaverton, OR, and daughter-in-law, Puanani (Clifford) Carvalho of Kapaa; sister-in-law Alice (Henry) Arruda of Lihue; one granddaughter, Leilani (Nick) Seau; three grandsons, Scott and Chad Failla, and Makana Carvalho; seven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 24, 2017, at St. Catherine Church; visitation from 9 a.m., with Mass from 10 ot 11 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date. Celebration of Life luncheon to follow.
Tamotsu ‘Tamo’ Takamura
Tamotsu “Tamo” Takamura of Lawai, Hawai’i passed away at home on March 11, 2017, at the age of 86. Born on Nov. 5, 1930, in Waimea, Kaua’i. He was a retired carpenter for Gay and Robinson and an U.S. Army Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Janiel; parents Jutari and Yukie Takamura; sisters, Tsuruko Takamura and Masuko Ijima; and Brothers, Shigeyuki Takamura, Mitsuo Takamura and Tomeichi Takamura.
Tamo is survived by his wife, Janet Takamura; son, Robin Takamura of Kaneohe, O’ahu; son-in-law, Kanani Malama; daughter, Tammy Takamura of Hanapepe; daughter-in-law, Amanda Lamcambra of O’ahu; grandchildren: Kitana Takamura, Dillon Takamura, Tristan “Pomai” (MacArthur) Delacruz, Kailan (Tiana) Malama, Jaecie (Javin Balisican) Malama, and Keanu Malama; great-grandchildren: Mikaylah Jade Schoenberg, Kieran Sage Schonberg, Nevaeh-Lehua Malama, Teivan Delacruz, Kingsley Balisican, Baelee-Rose Delacruz, and Meliyah-Grace Delacruz; brothers, Yukio Takamura of O’ahu and Glenn Takamura of California; sisters, Jean Komori of O’ahu and Sally Okada of Kekaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Kaua’i Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe at 10 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are being omitted.

Ernest Camara
Ernest Camara of Kalaheo passed away at home on March 11, 2017, at the age of 91. He was born in Kauai on May 14, 1925, and retired from Amfac as the Lumber Yard Foreman.
Preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Camara; parents, John and Mary Camara; brothers, August and Manuel Camara.
Ernest is survived by four children, Sharon (Johnson) Villanida of Kalaheo, Anthony (Tracey) Camara of Hanapepe, Rinda (Richard) Banasihan of Kalaheo, Yvette (Mark) Scribner; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Betty) Camara of Wisconsin; sister, Dorothy Lopes of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Holy Cross church with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Camara family with arrangements.
