Brad Hiranaka of the Kauai Youth Football league said the spring season opens Saturday when the new flag football division players take the field at Vidinha Stadium starting at 3 p.m.
The flag football players for Lihue (mahalo to Coach Nardo Nacnac for all the scoops on the young players) practice at Puhi Park (mahalo to Russell McCluskey and his senior softball players for all the work in keeping the park nice) and the players are thrilled with their soft padded helmets.
Coach Willis Lebanon coaches the flag players and Coach Johnny Kaohelauli‘i leads the Division I boys.
That should make for an exciting stadium because Kauai High School will be playing Waimea (Coach Larry Ephan had his baseball boys helping clean the Waimea River Sunday too) in a night doubleheader in the make-up game from last week’s rained-out event.
OK, time to get ready for the trip to Waimea and watch Shayne Simbre-Medeiros do his volleyball magic against Kapaa High School.
