TGI delivery delayed
Due to maintenance on the main arrival runway at the Lihue Airport, The Garden Island has been arriving late on doorsteps of its subscribers and in newspaper racks around the island.
The Hawaii Department of Transportation maintenance is scheduled to continue regularly through March 12. The runway may also be closed occasionally between March 13 and Marcy 27 for continued work.
Because the runway has often been closed for several hours late night and early morning since work began Feb. 21, it has delayed the arrival of TGI after coming off the presses on Oahu and being flown to Kauai.
The Garden Island apologizes for the delivery delays and thanks its readers for their patience.
“We know our readers want and expect their paper to be there every morning,” said Bill Buley, TGI editor. “We’re sorry we haven’t been able to provide the usual excellent service. As soon as the runway is back in operation full time, we’ll have The Garden Island there for you.”
