LIHUE — The 34th season of E Kanikapila Kakou Hawaiian Music program continues Monday with “Three Ukulele Guys.”
Herb Ohta Jr., David Kamakahi and Jon Yamasato’s program theme is “The Stars are Shining on Us.”
EKK promises an evening of hot ukulele music by these artists who are also close friends. Each has won multiple Na Hoku Hanohano awards and has played with some of the best musicians in Hawaii.
The three musicians will play in the Jasmine Ballroom of the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort, which will have a no-host bar and hot food concession.
The program begins with an ukulele circle at 6 p.m. From 7 to 9 p.m., the musicians take the stage and jam. During that time they will bring participants of the earlier ‘ukulele circle to the stage to show their stuff.
There is a suggested $10 donation at the door.
The Garden Island Arts Council is mid-point in its 34th year of E Kanikapila Kakou, which means “let’s play music.” With the theme of “Music is Our Kuleana” EKK represents the best of Hawaiian music every Monday night for 10 weeks, finishing up on March 27.
The final night of EKK will be a ticketed concert at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center.
