Is it George or Sam? “George, or Sam, Oki” of Sacramento, Calif., (he even went to the Galapagos Islands) was having a blast Saturday at the Kauai Community Market, sharing his pictures of Antarctica with Amber McClure on his iPad (the Amber look-alike was busy cutting stuff for the American Culinary Federation Breakfast, said grandma Sandi Kato-Klutke).
The marketers were surprised by a flash mob (great job leading the dance, Polina Goudkova!) led by Shaunte Sadora, who got everyone involved. They all disappeared following the One Billion Rising for Justice dance and became shoppers (what was that Russian dish Polina was going to make, Laurie Ho?).
Beth Tokioka and Marty Amaro were being overrun by shoppers looking for presale tickets for the breakfast, and Dr. Francis and Joyce Takahashi were out with their Miki Nut Honey as well as the honey being sold by the Kauai Community College apiary program (Chris Kauwe said he doesn’t know where his notice for the Feb. 23-25 presentations went to).
Carol Yotsuda said she was afraid of all the bees coming around while sewing her puakenikeni lei from her tree since she’s allergic to bee stings (and where did the centipede sting?). She got to share one lei with Kathleen Ho (Aliana “High Ho” is on Oahu with the chorus).
Happy Presidents Day to all who have the holiday today!
