LIHUE — The Kamehameha Schools-Hawaii Warriors conked two runs and capitalized on a Kapaa error to take an early 4-0 lead en route to winning, 5-1 Friday afternoon at Vidinha Stadium.
The visiting Warriors, the reigning Wally Yonamine Foundation Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II baseball champions, are one of two teams visiting Kauai over the long weekend, and participating in a preseason baseball series hosted by Kauai High School.
Dustin Asuncion broke into the scorebooks in the second inning when he scored off an RBI single from Kekona Naipo-Arsiga.
Dallas J. Duarte chopped the ball and the resultant miscue pushed Bryce Furuli across followed by Jaisten Cabatbat whacking into a two-RBI single.
The Farrington Governors, visiting from Oahu, opened its tour against Waimea High School at Hanapepe Stadium. Waimea defeated Farrington, 7-0.
Games are scheduled from 9 a.m. Saturday at Vidinha Stadium when the Waimea JV go against the Kauai JV.
Following the opener, Waimea will meet KS-Hawaii at 11 a.m. followed by host Kauai taking on KS-Hawaii at 2 p.m. Kauai will play Farrington starting at 4 p.m. Kapaa closes the day by taking on Farrington starting at 7 p.m.
The series closes Sunday when the Kapaa JV takes on Kauai starting at 4 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium. Kauai will close the series with a game against Farrington starting at 6:30 p.m.
There is a food booth hosted by Kauai High School.
