Happy birthday to Bill Spitz (when is breakfast at Ho‘okipa Cafe at the Puakea Golf Course?) who celebrates his special day today.
He was cruising the Kauai Culinary Market in style with his Reyn Spooner’s shirt (he even had his photo taken by the sales help) with Laurie Ho, Amy Chun (her son Sam was busy taking the registration for the free Valentine’s Day giveaway), and Kelly Gooding (aka Omar the Tent Guy who was happy he didn’t have to put up and take down all those tents).
Helaine Perel was busy (they had no parking!) helping all the keiki with their free Valentine’s Day (Terry Gordines said her flowers were sold out almost instantly) activity (Annika Newell made two — one to eat and one for “after dinner” while mom Aletha Thomas did her Monkeypod Jam demo). Kudos to Melissa McFerrin-Warrack (her son Finnegan got to have a cookie and say “Happy Valentine’s Day” on the speaker) and Char Jensen (are we going to get a list of the free Valentine’s Day giveaway recipients?) on the free giveaways.
So, this sets up the Kauai Community Market (Beth Tokioka and Marty Amaro will have American Culinary Federation Brunch tickets available for the Feb. 19 event) on Saturday at the Kauai Community College parking lot from 9:30 a.m.
You can also check out Janie Crane at the Sweet and Sweet Things event at the Lihue Parish Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
