KAPAA — “The girls are out getting something to eat before the crowd gets here,” said Liz Fletcher of Paradise Beauty Salon and Spa in Kapaa.
The salon was offering Haircuts (and Makeup) for Hospice as part of the monthly First Saturday event hosted by the Kapaa Business Association in downtown Kapaa.
Steven Potter of Forest Grove, Oregon, said “It’s supposed to snow Sunday. We didn’t want to go through that so we just hopped a plane and came here. It’s not snowing.”
The Kapaa Business Association invites a number of community vendors and entertainers along sidewalks of business organizations during the first Saturday of each month from 5 to 9 p.m.
“We’re doing this as a part of a story on Kauai,” said Lei Ui Kaholokula, a newscaster from a Honolulu television station. “This is exciting — coming home and being able to do a story about this.”
