Monique Joy Lorenzo was not alone as she announced she was ready for her close-up during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation boys basketball game (congratulations to Kapaa coach Kamahala Kauhane on the win!) Tuesday night.
Coach Jon Kobayashi said the chilly nights make for good sleeping weather and Dawn Serapio (she’s been playing basketball since the seventh grade) could not help but play with a basketball (who was the cheerleader who tried the treys?) during half time while she watched the guys play on the open court.
Waimea plays its final game of the season tonight against Coach Ipo Yoshioka and the Red Raiders at the Kauai High School gym. How about those Kauai High School JV — did they clinch, Coach Clyde Vito?
Kudos to Waimea baseball coach Larry Ephan and Jon Kobayashi on getting the Waimea Baseball Invitational going. All three KIF teams are involved, and they have a food booth, too. And, since Mid Pacific Institute is there, is Gordan Muramaru (Makaweli is hosting a night baseball game against Lihue at Vidinha Stadium, tonight because Sunday is Super Bowl Sunday) coming out to watch his brother, Coach Dunn?
