Carolyn Lum had her Chinese New Year shirt (Laurie Ho said she got it at a trade show) Saturday, the Chinese New Year of the Rooster at the Kauai Community Market. Carolyn said Ho’s Chinese Kitchen at the Kukui Grove Center has some Chinese New Year shirts as well as the Year of the Rooster fortune calendars for sale.
Sandi Kato-Klutke (just saw Nia Klutke Friday at Kauai Community College in her “little box”) had her red good luck shirt on for the Chinese New Year, and Barbara Bloemke had her Mainland ohana in tow, stopping off for some Honi Honi Honey (and where were the bees?)
Ferdinand Dosono of Kauai Kim Chee (isn’t kim chee a Korean food?) said he had his red shirt on, but where was the Chinese food for the new year? Melissa McFerrin-Warrack was getting excited about the venison steaks at the Makaweli Meat place.
Dr. Monty Downs (he said he is a rooster) had his Chinese New Year shirt on, and Jim Jung went all-out with his Chinese outfit, including the pigtail (kudos to Joanne Parongao and Kevin Toma on a great Chinese lion performance!). And Alice Parker completed the picture with her Chinese plate lunch.
