Cory ‘Snap’ Koichi Moritsugu
Cory “Snap” Koichi Moritsugu, 57, of Kekaha, passed away at his residence on Jan. 9. He was born in Los Angeles on June 7, 1959. He was a retired automotive inspector and mechanic.
He is survived by his son Bricen S. Moritsugu of Koloa; daughters Nadine M.L. (Michael S.) Park of Mililani, Oahu, and Keria Vandehey of Hanapepe.
He is also survived by his mother Ilona K. Moritsugu of Koloa; brothers Robin L. Moritsugu of Kapaa and Ross H. Moritsugu of Koloa; and former wife Corlis K. Moritsugu of Koloa.
Also surviving are grandchildren Emma K.C. Park and Nainoa K.K. Park, as well as aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and companion Elizabeth Nani Sanay Pa‘ao‘ao.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren K. Moritsugu, sister Doreen C. (Rodney Young) Fernandez, grandparents Alice (John Jr.) Maglinti, Lono Fu and Henry K. and Mary F. Kawaguchi Moritsugu.
A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 31 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Koloa. Visitation with the family begins at 10 a.m., and the service will begin at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire.

Baltazar ‘Pancho’ Ortiz Jr.
Baltazar “Pancho” Ortiz Jr. of Lihue passed away at home on Jan. 18 at the age of 77. He was born in Harlingen, Texas, on Jan. 4, 1940, and retired as an aircraft mechanic with the Air National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Conchita and Katinka.
He is survived by his wife Incarnacion “Inky” Ortiz; four sons, Xavier Ortiz, Gilbert Patrick (Laurie) Ortiz, Antonio (Avis) Ortiz and Eziquiel Ortiz; five daughters, Darlene (Davay) Tapusoa, Maria Lisa (Maximo) Ortiz, Linda (Rudolpho) Garza, Cindy (Joseph) Glunk and Elena Ortiz; 35 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Ortiz, Mike (Elizabeth) Ortiz and Andy (Abe) Ortiz; two sisters, Gloria (Israel) Garcia and Carmen Ortiz; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Ortiz family with arrangements.
Alfred ‘Big Boy’ Kupo Jr.
Alfred “Big Boy” Kupo Jr. passed away at the age of 68 on Jan. 23 at his home. Born on Sept. 15, 1948, in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator for the State of Hawaii Airports Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Kupo Sr. and Margaret Kupo, brother Leonard Kupo and sister Geraldine Pasion.
He is survived by his wife Pauline Kupo of Kekaha; son Alika (Amanda) Grady of Koloa; daughters Kelly (Greg) Perreira of Kalaheo and Faith Kalamau of Oahu; grandchildren Brigg Perreira, Gianni Perreira, Gheymee Perreira, Rhyder Perreira, Levi Grady, Caleb Grady and Lilinoe Grady; brothers Harvey Frost of Nevada, Jimmy Frost of Oahu, Will (Nadine) Frost of Oahu and John Kupo of Nevada; sister, Elee Lonoea of Oahu; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kekaha Ward. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. with a celebration of his life to begin at 4 p.m. Dinner and fellowship will follow at the church.
The family suggests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

Sondra Lee Field Grace
Sondra Lee Field Grace of Anahola, born on March 27, 1945, in California, passed away at her residence on Jan. 4 at the age of 71.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Pono Grace, brothers John Field and Harold Field and sister Edith Field.
She is survived by her husband, Michael L. Grace; brother, Henry Field of California; sister-in-law Marilyn Field of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family invites all to celebrate the life of a great woman on Sunday, Feb. 12, at their residence in Anahola (4693 Aliomanu Road) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
