Kudos to Charlmaine Suero Bulosan (she’s the president of the Kauai Filipino Community Council) and Dr. Charlie Sonido for coordinating the free health clinic screenings for dental, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, diet, optometry, osteoporosis, and more over the weekend at the Kauai Veterans Center.
Dr. Sonido said Jimmy Iloreta (he’s the president of the Hawaii Filipino Community Council) and Charlmaine coordinated the event because their Bayanihan Clinic Without Walls (those “I am a Volunteer” shirts were pretty cool) made up of volunteer medical health workers (it’s a part of the Philippine Medical Association Hawaii) had just returned from a mission to the Philippines and extended its effort before disbanding.
The clinic was also a good way to celebrate the opening of offices for Dr. Arnold Villafuerte (he’s from Waipahu) on Elua Street.
More kudos to Paul Zina, the population of Eleele Elementary School (absolutely love that ‘How’s My Ha?’ cap that William Arakaki and Paul Zina had on), and artist Daniel Dancer (how is camping at Salt Pond?) on creating the Art for the Sky project Wednesday! Waimea Canyon Middle School does its magic Monday!
