KOLOA — Rotary Club of Poipu Beach, assisted by the Island School Interact Club, recently hosted a kids’ Christmas party for about 100 kids of Nana’s House/Child and Family Services clients at the Waimea Theatre.
The morning event included Christmas carols, a bento box breakfast, and a screening of the film, “Finding Dory.” The party was topped off by a visit from Santa and a gift for each attendee.
Thirty-five Island School Interact Club students assisted in advance to purchase and wrap gifts. Advancement Via Individual Determination program students from Kauai High School also helped to wrap gifts. In addition, the Koloa Elementary School kindergarten class made gift tags.
“We are so happy we can provide a fun party and gift for a hundred kids every year to celebrate Christmas,” said Rotarian Mike Curtis, chairman of the annual event.
“It’s a great event that brings together Rotarians and Interact Club students to have a positive impact in the community.”
Other Rotarians who helped to lead the event include Milani Pimental, Michael Carlsson, and Dr. Craig Nishimoto.
