More than 70 young softball players were treated to a softball clinic Saturday at the Hanapepe baseball fields located adjacent to the Hanapepe Community Center.
The players were led by University of Hawaii softball coach Bob Coolen who joined his UH assistant coach Dee Wisneski, a former Waimea High School softball standout.
Kirk Correa, clinic organizer, said Waimea High School softball coach Teddy Pereira and the Menehune coaching staff also helped out as well as collegiate players Taylor Lazaro, Saecha Oyamot, Red Scovel and Sienna Santiago.
More collegiate players and high school alumni are expected to take the field when the Garden Island Baseball Clinic for players ages 9 through 14 takes place on Dec. 26 and 27 at the Lihue Baseball Park.
The clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and players have the option of participating in single day or both days.
