With over 50 years of delighting audiences, Kauai Chorale will celebrate the holidays by presenting “The Colors of Christmas” at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a second performance at the St. Regis Grand
With over 50 years of delighting audiences, Kauai Chorale will celebrate the holidays by presenting “The Colors of Christmas” at the Kauai Community College Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a second performance at the St. Regis Grand Ballroom at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Conducted by Lois Ricciardi and accompanied by Virginia Shepherd, Kauai Chorale will perform holiday favorites including “Angels in Seven,” a special arrangement of Hark the Herald Angles Sing by Charles Wesley & Felix Medelssohn, arranged by Philip Kern.
“The Colors of Christmas” by John Rutter and “Deck the Hall,” the Welsh traditional carol, arranged by Mack Wilberg will also add to the holiday festivities.
Among the guest musicians for the evening will be Jill Simonson who will play with Virginia Sheppard in a four-handed piano accompaniment in “Angels from the Realms of Glory by Hentry T. Smart, arranged by Dan Forrest .
Other guest artists for the evening will be Dan Spriggs on percussion, The Kauai Chorale String Ensemble: Taylor, Daniel, Katherine Welch and Jane Albrecht, a brass ensemble including Barry Toy and the Kauai Seventh Day Adventist Children’s Choir.
The lively “Hallelujah” (from “Handel’s Messiah: A Soulful Celebration), G.F. Handel, arranged by Mervyn Warren, Michael O. Jackson and Mark Kibble and adapted by John Higgins will rock the house.
The holidays would not be complete without a song for Hanukah with Hanerot Halalu by Baruch J. Cohon, Arranged by Blanche Chass. You are sure to be clapping your hands along with the chorale on this one.
Just for fun will be “The Twelve Days of Christmas Confusion” arranged by Chris R. Hansen, which is a mash up of holiday favorites with a humorous twist. To add to the fun will be “Perfect Christmas Night” from “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Paul O’Neill, Robert Kinkel by Jon Olivia, Arranged by Greg Gilpin.
With even more in store, the evening will be sure to leave you with the holiday spirit.
