Jenni Scotti and Malie Smith were so busy at the National Tropical Botanical Garden Holiday Craft Fair and open house, they never realized the one-year anniversary of the Creative ‘Ohana in Kalaheo had snuck up on them. Haunani Kaui (that 12-string does magic in her hands) teamed with Linda Tani to come up with some different sound, and Karin Panui (she’s one of the main sponsors for Saturday’s gift festival at the Kauai Community Market at Kauai Community College — is the real Amber McClure coming home for this?) said she’s been friends with Karene Kunimura for more than 60 years.
Meanwhile, at the Kealia Farms market (it’s a good place to stop between the Courtyard by Marriott and the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital where the lights are gorgeous!), Amber Tallent said she wasn’t going to come up with anything new, but had people stopping to sample her Cranberry, Pineapple, and Mac Nut spread by the Lilikoi Lady (she even had her indigo clothes on).
Sean Osuna (you gotta go check out his Kauai clay artwork) said he won’t sell his kadomatsu (natural black bamboo?) until Dec. 13 (Happy birthday, Ed Kawamura!) because that’s the New Year’s tradition.
