WAIMEA — Kauai police arrested a Waimea man in connection with a liquor store robbery that occurred Thursday morning in Waimea. Dylan Kekoa Nunies, 18, was arrested for first-degree robbery in connection to the incident at Umi’s Store in Waimea.

Dylan Kekoa Nunies, 18, was arrested for first-degree robbery in connection to the incident at Umi’s Store in Waimea.
Police were called to Pokole Road about 11 a.m. According to a preliminary report, a man walked into the store holding what appeared to be a hand gun and demanded money.
The suspect fled on foot. Police later located him at a nearby home, where they then identified him as Dylan Nunies.
Nunies is being held at police cellblock in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The employee who was in the store at the time of the incident did not report any injuries.
While police searched for the suspect, who was believed to be armed, both Waimea Canyon Middle and Waimea High schools were placed on lockdown. The lockdowns were lifted roughly an hour later, once the suspect was in custody.
