WAIMEA — The Christmas tree in Hofgaard Park was lit along with illuminated displays from businesses and homes in Waimea town on Thursday.
Keiki activities like creating Christmas ornaments and designing sundaes kept the park hopping as Kevin Toma directed the Waimea High School band through holiday numbers under the canopy of showers.
“This is real community,” said Penny Ono, event coordinator. “We have the Interact Club from Waimea High School, the Waimea High School football all-star Cody Taniguchi and his friends working together to present this program for the community.”
The holiday lights display will continue through the holidays, peaking on Dec. 17 when the West Kauai Business Association hosts the Waimea Christmas Lights Parade starting at 6:15 p.m. from the Waimea Canyon Park parking lot and ending at Hofgaard Park.
