HANAPEPE — Hilo High School girls soccer wrapped up its Kauai tour with a 5-2 win over the Waimea Menehune Saturday afternoon at Hanapepe Stadium.
The win comes on the heels of its morning 6-4 victory over the Kauai High School Red Raiders, giving the Vikings a 2-0-1 record to bring back to Hilo.
Tori Ishikawa, sitting through the Red Raider game while her father, Robert Ishikawa, provided game notes, scored both goals for Waimea.
“We have just one senior,” said William Trujillo, the Waimea coach. “But she’s never played soccer before. The remainder of our team is very young because with not enough players coming out, we combined our junior varsity turnouts.”
Hilo’s Lauree Anne DeMattos led the Vikings’ scoring with a hat trick, or three goals scored.
Waimea opens the Kauai Interscholastic Federation girls soccer season Dec. 3 when it hosts Island School in a varsity matchup starting at 10 a.m.
Kauai and Kapaa high school will do battle at Vidinha Stadium with the junior varsity kicking off at 10 a.m. followed by the varsity match at 11:45 a.m.
