Snorkeler dies off waters in Maui

KIHEI, MAUI — A man from Dallas, Oregon, was pronounced dead after snorkeling in waters off Kihei in Maui on Monday, according to Maui police. 

Phillip Green, 61, was snorkeling in the ocean outside of Waipuilani Park in Kihei when he experienced some difficulty and called for help about 10 a.m. Monday.

His son and a bystander brought him to shore where emergency crews performed life-saving measures but were unable to resuscitate him.

He was being transported by medics to the hospital when he was pronounced dead.
