I think it’s great that Mayor Carvalho has a plan for improvements on the island and expansions of the island’s pedestrian walkways, bike paths and transit system.
Something that he should put at the top of the list as a priority would be to address the dangerous and disgusting condition of the public bathrooms at many of the beaches and along the Kapaa bike pathway.
These bathrooms are filthy, stinking places that speak very poorly of our island to visitors and have in fact become somewhat disgusting places for pedophiles and drug deals. The county and the police are very rarely seen stopping at any of these sites to check their condition.
I have personally (on at least a half a dozen separate occasions) been approached by drug dealers and the last time I was at the facility next to the open field by the Kapaa bike path heard a man approach a teenage boy and proposition him while I was in the stall. I yelled at him and scared him off while in my indisposed situation.
This situation is disgusting and all of these bathrooms need to be bleached and power washed. It’s time for some county workers to get busy.
