Elvrine Chow got Yoon-Hee Henne of Yakima, Wash., to autograph her photo in Korean after she learned of Henne’s fame. Ada Koene (Wow! twice in two weeks at the Kauai Culinary Market?) said Henne’s picture appeared in TGI and while attending a luau at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, a staff associate recognized the lady.
Have you heard of a Balinese papaya? Andrew Denny got one as a “farmers’ surprise” during the market, along with some Pi‘i Ali‘i kalo and even some keiki for a Hawaiian medicinal.
Phil Worwa (it’s getting to be Santa season because he had his Santa hat on) was among the World Series revelers at the Tortilla Republic. He just got through diving for discs (disc golf?) and said there is going to be a tournament coming up next month (not on the base, this year).
This is the start of a busy weekend (Kevin Matsunaga will have his Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Craft Fair, Saturday from 8:30 a.m. — go early before the Veterans Day parade closes Rice Street), and of course, Marissa Sandblom opens the Grove Farm Swap Meet (Is Sonia Topenio going to be there? The county’s Agency on Elderly Affairs started “collecting” rummage for this event) early (8 a.m.!), too.
