KAPAA — Bragging rights are up for grabs at the Kapaa skate park on Saturday at SkateMania, a skateboarding competition open to all ages.
“We’re modeling it after WrestleMania,” said Sean Mccrink, organizer. “We’ll see if the kids that come get the whole WrestleMania thing — I know it was huge when we were kids.”
Throwing tricks is the name of the game starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, and winners in each of their divisions will get a skatebelt.
Each contestant will receive a T-shirt with the $10 registration fee.
SkateMania is hosted by Elephit, Oasis Skateboards, Aloha Exchange, Yes I Skateboard, and Fun Crime. It’s a day geared toward family entertainment.
