LIHUE — Gutsy Okada of the Waimea Senior Centers was anxious to start cooking lunch Saturday at the Kauai Seniors Food and Craft Fair at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
“He just got through exercising,” said Basilio ‘Bunga’ Fuertes. “Now, he wants to start cooking, but it’s too early for lunch.”
The county’s Department of Parks and Recreation and Na Kupuna Council hosted its annual senior food and craft fair sprinkled with liberal doses of entertainment provided by the nine senior centers of Kauai.
Doors opened to goods and foods created by the talented senior center members, clearly demonstrating their accumulated wisdom of living and their zest for life.
Kauai senior centers are in Kilauea, Kapaa, Lihue, Koloa, Kalaheo, Hanapepe, Kaumakani, Waimea, and Kekaha.
