LIHUE — A KIUC utility pole experienced electrical arc-ing Tuesday evening.

The Kauai Police Department received a report that the issue occurred just before 6 p.m. at the top of a utility pole located on the corner of Hardy and Elua Street, near Kauai Community Federal Credit Union, according to a release.

KIUC was notified and immediately responded to the scene.

As a safety precaution, police closed a portion of Hardy Street until 6:45 p.m. until KIUC personnel completed repair work.

During the closure, traffic was diverted onto Akahi and Umi streets.
