LIHUE — The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas celebrated with the Kauai Lifeguard Association and the Bridges Emergency Support Team Saturday during the 4th Wave Celebration at the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club.
KLA and B.E.S.T. received a check for $33,000 representing funds derived from the Westin Princeville’s annual Jazz and Wine Festival which was hosted at the Princeville resort on Sept. 17. The total is broken down to include $28,000 to KLA and $5,000 to B.E.S.T. based on a request from KLA to support the nonprofit organization that provides immediate, short-term and long-term bereavement services to those whose family members suddenly pass away.
B.E.S.T. is often called on to help during tragic events, such as a visitor, or resident drowning.
“We are proud to have exceeded our fundraising efforts from previous years to help support the invaluable service of the Kauai Lifeguard Association,” said Denise Wardlow, the Westin Princeville general manager. “This year, through the request of the KLA, we have the added pleasure of supporting another worthy cause by benefiting the Life’s Bridges organization.”
The Kauai Lifeguard Association aims to maximize ocean safety in and around Kauai waters through education, training and maintaining high standards of professional and open water lifesaving practices and techniques.
Since its inception, the Westin Princeville has raised more than $120,000 for the KLA through its Jazz and Wine events. The 8th annual Westin Princeville Jazz and Wine Festival is scheduled for Sept. 16.
