Tina Marie (she’s here for the Kauai Lifeguard Association 4th Wave on Saturday) and Steve Poncar came straight from the airport to get lunch from JC’s Puerto Rican Kitchen Saturday at the Kauai Community Market, a partnership with the Kauai Farm Bureau and the Kauai Community College.
Saturday was the seventh anniversary of the weekly market, said Melissa McFerrin-Warrack, and Barbara Sochorova of Czechoslovakia returned (she was featured in the paper during the opening) for a visit. She’s been busy taking pictures of the cacao trees she planted during her last visit, said John McClure of Moloaa Bay Coffee. She’ll be helping Amber McClure and Nia Klutke (she was busy at the kendo table at the Matsuri Kauai) at the Chocolate Festival coming up Friday and Saturday in Hanapepe (we have Waimea’s homecoming football game Saturday at Hanapepe Stadium, too).
Kudos to Pearl Shimizu and the Japanese Cultural Society of Kauai on another great Matsuri (Aida Cruz was going crazy with all those people at the Kauai Veterans Center, and Cynthia Dorsey is getting excited about crowning the new Miss Kauai Veteran on Wednesday).
Frecki Okada did a great job announcing the entertainment lineup, including the Hanapepe Seniors who did the Pokemon Ondo (is that going to be on the lineup Saturday at the Senior Craft and Food Fair at the Kauai War Memorial convention hall?).
