NAWILIWILI — The Kauai Independent Food Bank will launch its Holiday Healthy Food and Fund Drive with food collection at five different sites Saturday.
The drive runs through Dec. 30. This year’s goal is to raise $45,000 and 45,000 pounds of food.
”The need is especially felt during the holidays,” said Kelvin Moniz, director of the Kauai Independent Food Bank.
Volunteers will be collecting donations at Kukui Grove Shopping Center, the Big Kmart store, Sueoka Store in Koloa, Safeway at Hokulei Village, and Ishihara Market in Waimea on Saturday.
Chantal Zarbaugh, Kukui Grove promotions coordinator, said the shopping center will match contributions with a dollar for each food item donated to a ceiling of $1,500.
During the food drive period, contributions may be dropped off county fire stations as well as at the KIFB facility in Nawiliwili.
The Kauai High School girls volleyball team will collecting food for the drive at their home games through Oct. 14.
