Ricky Wa‘alani and Kahe had the perfect way to unwind after a long Saturday, and over at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery (kudos to Ken Morikawa, Susan Honjiyo, Janice Ishibashi and all the West Kauai Club 100 for a great memorial service for the veterans of the 100th Infantry Battalion!), Andrea Abalos was doing duty beyond making sure the flags were set on the avenue. She got to help cut and serve the 101st birthday cake honoring Kazuma “Monte” Nishie.
Kudos, too, to Capt. Vincent Johnson (great speech on veterans and the 100th) who was out on his first appearance since assuming office as the Commanding Officer for the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Mana. He even stopped to chat with Major Victor Aguilar and Sgt. Major Keith Cataneda of the Waimea High JrROTC before having lunch with Monte and Celia Nishie.
OK, time to go see if Chef Rafael has another “typo” in his menu.
