Road leading to Mahaulepu Beach to be closed for two months

MAHAULEPU — The private road leading to Mahaulepu Beach will be closed for two months starting Monday at the recommendation of the state Department of Health.

The road connects to Poipu Road. 

The closure is to further study the bacteria in the recreational waters at Waiopili Ditch and in the Poipu-Koloa Watershed area.

Grove Farms agreed to close the area around Waiopili Ditch and temporarily restrict access Sept. 26 to Nov. 30.

The public is advised to stay out of the area while the department completes its study. The closure will not affect lease holders and tenants in the area.
