According to a preliminary investigation, a Mazda sedan was heading east on the highway about 2:40 a.m. when it apparently crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Toyota sedan head-on.
The male occupant of the Toyota sedan, 36, of Kekaha, was initially transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was then medevaced to Queen’s Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The male driver of the Mazda, 39, and his 47-year-old female passenger, both from Kaumakani, were also transported to Wilcox Hospital with serious injuries.
