Congratulations to Louisa Wooton and the Wooton Family Farms on getting the Best In Show honors for those hardy luau leaves at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair (Caroline Manera Texeira of the Kauai Chamber and Christina Gabriel of the Marriott’s Waiohai were doing duty Saturday night)! Another round of congratulations to Pablo Valdez on getting Best in Show honors for the fruits with his Polar Bear Pumpkin (Jared Harris of Garden Island Healthcare said they need something like that for Halloween pumpkin carving).
Jared’s team was treating old-time farm people like Iwao Nonaka (why do ladies not like potatoes?) and Clarence Ishida (remember Wailua Market?) to a visit.
Kudos to the fair organizers Jerry Ornellas and Laurie Ho for enabling all those kupuna to enjoy the fair (Josie Pablo had nine residents from Mahelona Hospital and Joanna Martin had seven residents from Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital visiting Thursday night).
