Happy birthday to Leilani Bond Low who celebrated her special day making fresh flowers for guests at the Courtyard by Marriott luau, Sunday in the shadow of excitement stirred up by Kea, the 8-year-old dancer who was featured on television dancing with Justin Bieber.
Leilani was surrounded by her daughters, including Kamalani (the inspiration for Larry Rivera’s song) who just moved back home.
Barbara Gusman was wearing many hats — welcoming the Tachibana high school band students, directing traffic, and still being able to greet arriving guests to the Courtyard. Kudos to Art Umezu, Sue Kanoho, and all the Courtyard staff for that unique Meet and Greet event.
Down road, kudos to Mokihana Aquatics coach Orlando “O” Anaya and the “Mokiohana” on a great Fun Meet (Coach O said Lloyd “the Molokai Flash” Yonemura came early so he could golf), and Coach Curt Colby was able to get some Swim Kauai Aquatics swimmers to the pool on time.
Mokihana team leaders Sara Funtanilla (dad Frank was grinding shave ice in addition to providing security) and Maddie Hoesel did a great job getting all the young swimmers to the blocks on time while still juggling their own events.
