“We have rice!” Ferdinand Dosono said Saturday at The Kauai Community Market, a partnership between the Kauai County Farm Bureau and the Kauai Community College.
Coinciding with the National Farmers Market Week celebration, Dosono was busy grilling khalbi ribs and chicken while his sons vended the line of kim chee and other pickled vegetables.
“We started doing the khalbi from the Garden Fair,” Dosono said. “And customers always ask, ‘Where’s the rice?’ We have come a long way from when we started with only kim chee.”
The Kauai Community Market, meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at Kauai Community College, and the Kauai Culinary Market, open from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at The Shops at Kukuiula, are partnerships with the Kauai County Farm Bureau offering fresh produce and fruits.
