Avery Kano said their pageant is Saturday at the historic Waimea Theater. He had his reigning USA beauty queens in the Koloa Plantation Days parade (kudos to Arryl Kaneshiro and Teddy Blake on getting another great event going!).
Earl Tanaka (he’s here with the Pueo for the state senior softball tournament which starts Tuesday) was remembering the days he lived on Kauai, and Eric Nordmeier said he could look at the Lions (there are six clubs now, and Stephanie Shinno was walking with her Garden Island Federal Credit Union people, and not the Lions) and still be part of the parade.
Dolly Sugawa-Brierly was busy selling saimin at the Koloa Jodo Mission bon dance and still made it to the parade (Harvey Kinoshita was at the bon dance, too).
And Harvey Maeda was in his classic car (how do you get that many even if it rained?).
Kauai Museum Living Treasure James Yamamoto (have you gotten your tickets for the Aug. 13 event yet?) was collecting tickets at one of the park celebration gates, and even Winston Ogata was doing duty at another gate.
Firipi G (he’s excited about the 20-person fashion show coming up at Heiva i Kauai this weekend) and Nelson Batalion were checking out the vendors at the park celebration, and the entire Leonard ohana (Marty, Kathy and Laura) was working different parts of the Koloa Plantation Days.
