LIHUE — A measure that would allow vending on county-owned streets was deferred Wednesday to an Oct. 12 Kauai County Council committee meeting.
Bill 2628 aims to allow vending on county-owned streets to businesses — with an approved revocable permit — during events such as Friday Art Night in Hanapepe, First Saturday in Kapaa and Truck Stop Thursday in Lihue.
Parks and Recreation Committee Chair Ross Kagawa said the deferral was requested by county administration in order to work more with stakeholders in Kilauea, Kapaa and other neighborhoods that would be affected by the bill.
If passed, organizers of events would pay $100 for a permit which would require a site plan, certificates and would be good for a year.
