WAILUA – A traffic crash Tuesday night in Wailua sent three people to the hospital.
According to police, a county bus was traveling south on Kuhio Highway near the entrance to Smith’s Luau about 9:15 when it broadsided a Nissan Altima that was attempting to cross the highway.
The 77-year-old male bus driver was transported by private vehicle to Wilcox Hospital ER and has since been released.
The female driver of the sedan, 44, and female front-seat passenger, 12, did not report injuries. The two female passengers seated in the backseat of the vehicle, 60 and 16, were transported by medics to Wilcox ER. They were then medevaced to Queen’s hospital late Tuesday night where they remain in critical condition.
All four individuals in the sedan were visiting Kauai from Australia.
