Happy birthday to Shanti Diamond who celebrated her special day at a “birthday do” coordinated by her close friends in appreciation of the expertise and skill of the physicians and staff at the G.N. Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Diamond has been in the hospital since May and would not have been able to celebrate her birthday without the work of the Wilcox team.
Kudos to Clarence Sales and Team Central Basketball on a great Kauai Hoops Classic that wrapped up, Sunday. Clarence didn’t even have a chance to catch his breath as his son was playing on the summer league, Monday night. Kudos, too, to Coach Bobby Kamakele who directed his Kaulupono 12th grade division girls to a title over the Wahine Ryders of Hilo.
Of course, congratulations to the Kauai Bronco All Stars and its team of coaches on getting the state title Tuesday! It was great to see our baseball greats like Tommy Rita, Danny Smith, Peter Rayno, and Mark Domingcil at the title game. Pauline Ibia (she said a lot of the teams were hanging at Walmart) was lamenting the fact she could have gone, but thought the game was in the afternoon.
