Opening ceremonies for the Hawaii State Region Protect Our Nation’s Youth Mustang and Bronco tournaments start at 10 a.m. today at the Bronco Main Diamond at the Lihue County Park.
Kalei Cardinez, a Kauai PONY coordinator, said Kauai will be fielding four teams in the tournament which begins Friday and continues through Tuesday.
Kauai will be fielding a Mustang 9 team which will be competing in the pool that includes Hilo Gold, Hilo Silver, Maui, Mililani, and West Oahu.
Tyson Moises coaches the Kauai Mustang 10 team which will be going up against Big Island, Maui, Kapolei, Hawaii Kai, Pride, Windward, and Mililani.
Kevin Akita heads the Kauai Bronco team which will be in the pool with Maui, Hilo, West Hawaii, Windward A, Windward B, Mililani, and West Oahu.
Jay Koga coaches the Kauai Pony team which will be hosting Hilo Gray, Hilo Blue, Maui A, Maui B, Waianae, West Oahu, and Mililani.
